A growing study of rock and soil

An ongoing archive of pigment-making, shaped by the slow work of observing, foraging, grinding, and transforming rock into colour. These pigments often ground my paintings and form a research practice, holding traces of geography, memory, place, and gesture. Here, swatches, tools, tests, and raw pigments gather and document the landscapes I move through and the journeys I make, in collaboration with the earth.

Part of my research involves community offerings open to individuals, community groups, institutions, and art spaces. I provide all materials, including safety equipment, and tailor the workshop to suit different age groups and spaces.

If you're interested hosting a ‘Rock to Paint‘ session in your space, please reach out, I’d be happy to share more details and discuss how we can shape the workshop to fit your needs.

Workshop hosted making rocks to paint with the women and children of the medina at Dar Bellarj, Marrakesh

Shell pallet, with gouache made from two stones from different continents (Varna)

The collective went on a walk to collect material, rocks, soil and clay. We explored the different textures, ratios in formula and used them to create paintings. Reflecting on our link between nature and spirituality, and the accessibilty of it all.
